Villa Montalvo Wedding

Here is another new wedding slideshow from a event out at Villa Montalvo (now Montalvo Arts Center).  One of our favorite places to photograph in the South Bay we have shot many weddings out at Villa Montalvo.  There are two different areas you can have your ceremony there at the Oval Garden or the Love Temple.  This wedding was at the Oval Garden with the reception in the front of the Villa.  One thing I love about shooting weddings here are that the grounds are enormous and you have so many cool things to shoot, the inside of the Villa has some great photo ops the outside there are some great architectural spots to shoot around and then you have the vast grounds that you could spend hours walking around photographing a bride and groom.

Villa Montalvo Wedding

Over the past years we have photographed a lot of weddings out at Villa Montalvo (now Montalvo Arts Center). It is really a gorgeous spot to get married, such a classic and elegant spot to have a wedding. There are so many great little areas around the grounds for weddings I can shoot there over and over and always find new places to shoot at that just look amazing. Greg and Sheren were such a sweet couple and so great to work with on the day, here are just a couple of favorite shots of the day:

Villa Montalvo Wedding Photos

Here is a video from a wedding we shot at Villa Montalvo.  Villa Montalvo is located in Saratoga, Ca and a beautiful spot to get married at.  Montalvo Arts Center was previously known as Villa Montalvo, a historic
landmark built in 1912 by James Duval Phelan (1861-1930). Phelan, a
passionate Californian who had been a three-term progressive mayor of
San Francisco, went on to become California's first popularly-elected
U.S. Senator.  There are so many beautiful backdrops here for your wedding from the classic mansion to the wonderful garden areas.  Check out this video from a recent wedding we photographed at Montalvo:

Villa Montalvo Wedding

Another fun wedding at Villa Montalvo

Here are some images from a album we just finished up.  The ceremony was at Villa Montalvo
and then we headed over to Stanford for bridal party photos and wrapped things up at Dynasty
Banquet hall.  Even though it was raining during the reception at Montalvo things cleared up
for the outdoor photos at Stanford and everything turned out great.

Villa Montalvo Wedding

Villa Montalvo Wedding

This year we photographed a lot of weddings at Villa Montalvo in Saratoga.  There are some really great spots there for photos from the classic architecutre to the beautiful grounds.  I have another album that I am working on from Montalvo and will update my blog soon with some of those images.

Here is some information about Montalvo (it's pretty rich with history)

Montalvo Arts Center was previously known as Villa Montalvo, a historic
landmark built in 1912 by James Duval Phelan (1861-1930). Phelan, a
passionate Californian who had been a three-term progressive mayor of
San Francisco, went on to become California's first popularly-elected
U.S. Senator. Villa Montalvo was Senator Phelan's favorite home and a
center of artistic, political and social life in Northern California.
Phelan invited leading writers and artists to Villa Montalvo to work on
individual artistic projects in an environment rich in dialogue and
fellowship. Jack London, Ethel Barrymore, Mary Pickford, Douglass
Fairbanks, and Edwin Markham were among Phelan's many guests.

Villa Montalvo was named for the popular 16th-century Spanish writer
Garcia Ordonez de Montalvo, who coined the name "California". In one of
his fables, he described an island rich with gold and jewels, peopled
by Amazons whose queen was Califia. On this storybook island of
California, Montalvo's Amazons rode griffins, the mythical winged
guardians of precious treasure. Griffins can still be found throughout
the Villa Montalvo grounds, standing guard over one of California's
true precious treasures.

Here is one of our recent albums from Montalvo:

Villa Montalvo Wedding

Jeff and Jae

Here are a few images from Jeff and Jae's wedding at Villa Montalvo in Saratoga.  Montalvo is a beautiful spot to get married, very elegant.

Here is Jae at the start of the day, getting ready at Villa Montalvo

Jeff had to play a few games before the ceremony started, here he had to write a note to Jae with the pen in his mouth :)

Here is a shot of the ceremony site at Montalvo

One image that I loved of Jae in the main bridal room

and a few more images of the ceremony site:

A few of Jeff and Jae around the grounds at Montalvo

I love trying to use the sun in unconventonal ways and get some cool
looking lens flare in the shot

The dinner from above:

Jae has such a wonderful smile:

I loved this shot as they held each others hand during the toasts, so cute!

More wedding photos to come later.
