Wedding at Inn at Spanish Bay

Slideshow from the Inn at Spanish Bay wedding

Here is the slideshow from our wedding at the Inn at Spanish Bay.  What an amazing location to have a wedding I just love shooting out here.  Jimmy and Grace had a perfect day and also decorated the room with such a nice feel to it.  Grace really has a wonderful design edge to her, check out a few of the photos of the centerpieces and other details, amazing!

Congrats to Mario and Lori

Congrats Mario and Lori

Mario and Lori were married at the Five Wounds Church in San Jose,  We have been to this church many times over the years and I really love to photograph here.  It is such a dramatic, classic cathedral.  There is also a choir loft that also makes for some cool shots and check out the reflection shot below taken from up there, I love it!

After the ceremony we went over to Stanford for photos of the bridal party and family, we didn’t have a lot of time but were able to capture some classic portraits of the family and of Mario and Lori.

The slideshow is online here:  Mario and Lori, Five Wounds and Stanford Wedding

Here are a few images I love of the day:

Bay Area Wedding Photographer

A few images from Richardo and Christinas wedding

What a super cute couple RIcardo and Christina are.  They have big perfect smiles and are just a great couple.  I had so much fun at their wedding and there are a few shots that I just love from the day.  Most of these were just shot in this little tree lined walkway outside of the reception hall, but we had nice soft light, a great couple and that always makes for good images.

Here are some of my fav’s:

Another great wedding in Half Moon Bay

Another awesome wedding in Half Moon Bay

We have been in Half Moon Bay the last two weekends and last weekend was just a perfect wedding.  Kristy and Kevin are an amazing couple, so fun and just too cute together.  I first met Kristy a few years back working a wedding together.  She is a florist and works for Ralston Florists in Belmont.  I did some photos for a floral brochure for them awhile back and Kristy volunteered to model for the photos (and did such a great job, I knew when she got married I had to shoot her wedding).  We dressed her up in a wedding dress and went around Ralston Hall taking photos of some of their bouquets.  It was a fun shoot and I was so excited when she called me earlier this year to shoot her wedding.

The day turned out so perfect and other than the limo forgetting about them at the ceremony site, everything went perfect (I put on my chauffeur hat and took care of them, so they weren’t stranded, most people don’t know I have other skills other than the camera :)

The wedding was at the Hastings House which is a private house in Half Moon Bay and they have a beautiful garden area that you can rent for ceremonies and receptions.  After that we headed over to the Oceano Hotel a brand new hotel in Half Moon bay that is just awesome.  The main ballroom was decorated so well and of course had the most amazing centerpieces and flower arrangements.  I’ll post some images soon and you will be amazed at the arrangement she had at the table card table, amazing!

I can’t wait to post some images, I know there are going to be some really great shots of the couple and of the day.

More to come soon,

Mark

Inn at Spanish Bay Wedding

Wedding at the Inn at Spanish Bay

Growing up in Santa Cruz I have always loved the cost.  There really are some amazing places to visit around the Bay Area and Santa Cruz and Monterey/Carmel are my spots to go to relax, there is just something soothing about the salt water smell and cool ocean breeze that I love.  Shooting weddings I get to spend a good amount of time at the beach, there are so many popular places to get marred at that are at the beach or close by so I get to spend time in a beautiful place and photograph great people at the same time, what a cool job I have!

A few weeks ago I photographed Jimmy and Grace’s wedding at the Inn at Spanish Bay, one of my favorite beach locations.  They had such a beautiful wedding, the ceremony was on the rolling lawn right outside the resort and the views there are just spectacular!  Grace also has such a great sense of style, she played a big part in the design of the wedding and I really loved the centerpieces she had created and the indoor waterscape against the side wall.  The centerpieces were narrow water basins that ran down the entire length of the table with floating candles and flowers.  It was a very contemporary and clean look, great job Grace!  Here are a few of my fav shots:

Vendor Spotlight - Icing on the cake

Vendor Spotlight

I am going to start showcasing some of our top vendors on a weekly Vendor Spotlight blog post.  Being in business for 9 years in the Bay Area we have been able to work with so  many awesome vendors around. There really are some talented people here in the valley, you can find the best florists, cake makers and other vendors to make sure your wedding is the best!  To help all of you brides with your planning we are going to be writing a weekly vendor review on our blog.Icing on the Cake Cupcakes

To start it off I am going to write about one of my weaknesses….. my sweet tooth.  Normally I am a pretty healthy guy and like to eat well, but one thing I can never pass up is sweets.  There are a few really great cake makers that we have on our preferred vendor list and one of them that has been on my mind lately is Icing on the Cake in Los Gatos.  Ever since Tara’s wedding that we shot at the Cypress Hotel a few months ago I have been dreaming of their cupcakes.   They make great cakes but really, really good cupcakes.  I was too busy at Tara’s wedding and didn’t have time to grab a cupcake but saw them at a networking event at Villa Montalvo a few weeks ago and have to have 2 :)

Their cupcakes are true to the name of the business with lots of Icing, just how I like it.   And the other great thing about them is they are right on Main St. in Los Gatos so if you ever get a mid day sweet tooth head over for a nice cupcake (or tons of other sweets).  They do close early though (6:00 on weekdays) so get there early!  Writing this is making me too hungry so I have to go!

movie reviews

One of the things I love to do when I have free time (right now during the summer there really isn’t any free time but I try and get away from the office at least once a month) is watch movies.  Being a photographer I always over analyze how the film was shot and am a pretty harsh critic.  For a movie to get my full approval it has to be very good.  I am going to start to post movie reviews and  hopefully save some of you from seeing some of the Garbage that is out there.  Last night I went and saw Tropic Thunder with Ben Stiller.

Overall I give this movie a 1 out of 5 stars.  It has some actors that I love and I think had the potential to be a pretty funny movie.  I really liked the idea of the movie and it has a great chance to really poke fun at hollywood, I thought the concept was good and the trailer for the movie looked pretty good.  But the movie really fell short there were a few funny parts but they were few and far between and there was too much fowl language and vulgarity that I thought wasn’t needed at all.  I think a good comedy doesn’t need to be throwing F-Bombs left and right for it to be funny and there was too much vulgarity for my taste.   Even though it was about a war movie I think some of the profanity was just thrown in there to try and be funny and it really turned me off to the whole movie.

On a side note my favorite comedy on TV has just been released on iTunes last week and I was so happy.

I got hooked on Curb Your Enthusiasm on HBO when it first came out and every since season 1 I have to rent the DVD episodes once they come out.  It is a comedy about Larry David (the creator of Seinfield) and he plays himself living in LA as a producer.  He always gets himself into these crazy situations, it really reminds me of some of the seinfield situations, just really random things that come up.  Since it is on HBO sometimes there is some nasty language, but I think it is a really good comedy.  If you haven’t seen it yet rent season 1 (or check out the last season on iTunes).

Baby Photography San Jose

Overdue baby photos

I had a great baby shoot awhile back that keep forgetting to post.  There were some shots I really loved of little Logan, he is such a cutie.  I love shooting natural portraits for babies, it gives me a great excuse to roll around on the floor and play with kids.  I had such a good time with this little one, we took him all over the house and he kept on smilin :)

Here are just a few from the shoot:
